| October 2006: The Four Hats of Shared Leadership |
|
As with the last two years, the partnership hosts monthly Learning Community Forums to
further the professional development of Teacher Leaders. This year, selected forums will be
designed with the participation of administrators, teacher peers, and higher education faculty
also in mind. The themes of the Forums this year will be "The Four Hats of Shared Leadership."
The goals for the Forums include: developing teacher's shared leadership skills as facilitators,
presenters, coaches and consultants; supporting teachers as they implement their district action
plan; creating links to sustain our collaborative learning community. The general schedule of each
forum consists of a workshop in the morning and time in the afternoon to work on District Action
Plans developed this summer.

|
| February 2007:
Math and Science Curriculum Topic Study Learning Community Forum |
|
In this special two-day Learning Community Forum we revisited the protocol for
developing assessment probes that we introduced last year applying it to our own instructional materials.
We also looked at ways to extend and enhance the use of CTS in our ongoing effort to support teachers in our buildings,
including opportunities to look at the Math CTS resources.
This forum was co-sponsored by NCOSP, the Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance,
and the Center for Strengthening the Teaching Profession (CSTP).

| March 2007: Looking at Student Work:
Assessment Probes and Notebook Entries |
|
The work your students do everyday is a powerful source of data and, when examined carefully, can give you powerful
insights into what students are learning and inform future instruction. This is the heart of formative assessment and
is a practice closely tied to improving student learning. At the March LCF we looked at student work in the form
of Assessment Probes and Notebooks for evidence of learning and considered the instructional implications.

| May 2007: Scaling Up |
|
In this special two-day Learning Community Forum we looked back over the course of the partnership to
identify the ways we have bridged research and practice. The strands of Science Content Knowledge,
Instructional Practice, Leadership, and developing Professional Learning Communities were explored through
the lens of what research has to tell us and the strategic responses weve had to that research. We also had
the opportunity to explore Instructional Practice through viewing several video segments of classrooms within our
own partnership. We also took time to review and discuss the responses to applications for the upcoming summer professional development.
